prof. Shagena made me disinterested in persuing finance as a major due to her teaching style. The way she taught was as if we are grad-students. We would have to read the chapter before class and then jump right into the homework equations. Constantly, she would contradict herself during equations which would be even more confusing.
Undergrads dislike her because they're not willing to put in the work, but graduate students love her. Undergrads need to learn to grow up, read the book, and do their homework.
She is an extremly difficult teacher. She made the course very difficult. Her teaching skills are ineffective and she admits that her class will be the difficulexam class you'll ever take. And its a freaking intro class. She gives no pity points. However, she wont fail you. Every grade I got was an F but she still let me pass with a %60.
The courses can be really frustrating and confusing. But I pulled off an A for the semester so it is definitely possible. The key to success in her class is YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK before class and before the exams for review. If you don't read the book and you can't teach yourself some of the material you won't do well in this class.

The worst prof. I have had. She doesn't know what she's doing. The homework is risiculous. She constantly makes mistakes in class and gets corrected by her students. Teaches new material the class before the exam. No review sessions except on your own time.BAD! Avoid at all costs!!!
This is the worst teacher I ever had at this school. Never came prepared to class, constantly had to refer to her notes, very impatient (especially 1-on-1), used examples from the book - never her own, messed up calculations constantly, graded roughly and assigned material designed for finance majors... DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Far and away the worst prof. I have ever had at Xavier. Confusing, homework takes HOURS, very stubborn and arrogant. Learning the material comes second to doing homework projects and taking exams. Unknowledgeable, and has no clue how to teach. AVOID AT ALL COSTS if you value your GPA or education in the slighexam bit.
Amazing prof.. Human, and willing to work with students. Tough material, One of a friendly, highly recommend!!!
The homework takes hours, her courses are difficult to follow, she mixed at least one thing up per class (didn't know debits from credits. wow) & her exams are NOTHING at all like her lecture examples or the homework. i would avoid her for acct.
Mary beth is an allright teacher. She is not difficult to take when compared to other. You have to show up to class, read the material, and do the homework if you want to understand accounting. |
