Prof. Hill is a tad self-righteous. Additionally, do not expect a great grade if he disagrees with your point of view or finds your personality unappealing. Going into his final, I had an A/B for the course and by the end of the final I somehow had a C (even though I used Phil material/theories from both inside the class as well as other courses).
Hill was an fascinating teacher, but definitely had his ways. Went to his office hours 3 different times for one paper and he still only gave me a B. Tough grader, and great luck making an A on the mid year exam and final. I knew the material back and forth and still couldn't crack an A. Very big on participation and attendance.
Such a great teacher! Explains the topic in an simple to understand way. Conducts great class conversation. Has a quirky sense of humor. Grades are impartial, but he is tough on grammar. Reading tests now and then, but answers are always on blackboard. Teaches you how to be a great writer! liked the class!
Seemed to expect too much out of a mandatory class needed to graduate. Many times it seemed like he thought we were philosophy majors, and would grade papers very roughly. He knows what he teaches very well, and reviews it well also, sometimes he gets too into the class. exams are alright just have to explain everything very well to get a great grade
Incredibly strict about attending class. 3 papers, one of them was a 6 page paper. A mid year exam and final, random reading tests also. Class can get dull but he tries his great to make a dull subject a bit more exciting.
Insanely strict about tardies and attendances. If your IQ is average to below average, this is the class for you. You might even be tricked into thinking his banal pop-philosophy lessons are deep thinking. If you are intelligent, you will dislike every second of your mandatory presence in the class. Hypocritical, nitpicky, and secretly arrogant.
Likes to lead most discussions. Has three papers. very difficult grader on papers. Way to nitpicky. Sort of awkward but a really fun guy to have as a prof.. Kept the topics fascinating even though there wasn't much group discussion. I don't know that I would take him again. The exams are pretty straight forward.
prof. Hill is a great philosophy prof.! He keeps your attention by explaining all arguements in an organized and concise manner. He is a tough grader on exams and the two big papers but you can make up for that on the simple pop tests. He is always available to help during his office hours. Take Hill! |
